Outdoor fun!

The weather has been so nice that we having been spending more time outside. We are working on our gross motor muscles while climbing on the rocks, running on the grass and jumping from rock to rock.

When we got too tired to walk, we hopped in the wheel barrel for a ride!

Showing determination, while trying to climb to big tire!

We even had our snack outside on the deck!

After we finished our snack we continued our learning on the deck.

Mrs. Pollreis went to Alberta and brought back some really interesting shells, rocks and fish fossils.
We went through them and examined them with our eyes and fingers.

Here are some of our favourite ones!

Bucket Filling

Miss Cottrell instilled empathy, kindness and 'bucket filling' with the children this morning. Bucket Filling is a story about values, caring & building each other up! :) The children sat and listened attentively to the story and answered questions.  "What dips your bucket?" was asked.  One child answered, "when someone steals" another answered, "when someone is mad".  They also discussed what fills people's buckets, sharing and hugs :)

Lemon Poppy Seed Muffins

We gathered all the ingredients to make lemon poppy seed muffins.

One child whispered to another, " when you eat a lemon you are going to make a funny face"

Our first job was to zest the lemon. That's when you grate the peel of the lemon.

Then we used a juicer to squeeze all the juice out of the lemon.

Our juicer separated the seeds so they wouldn't be in the juice.

We got to taste the sour lemon juice.

Pouring in the flour.

Cracking an egg.

Stirring and pouring requires cooperation.

More zesting.

Measuring and adding poppy seeds to the mixture.

Ready to bake!

Ready to eat!

"I love these!"
